looking at buying 93 MX-3

Post by mikeetown »

how is the 88hp motor for reliability?? the mx3 has 274,000km. Is 1500 a good price? mint body. needs new front struts. runs good, but still asking opinions. I need a gas saver. My DE mx3 GS is my fun car.

the b6 reliability is very good, but i personally thing 1500 is a lot, i wouldn't go higher than 1000 and that's assuming there's no rust

The market for these in BC is very different compared to AB. That's the going price for a car like that. I cannot attest to the first gen B6 but my b6 right now is very reliable and it's at 240,000 kms and going strong

you will never totally kill it. It will just eventually burn enough oil to become uneconomical.

That's great, I've actually noticed that I see fewer B6s in pick n pull compared to GS's but I assumed it was because the GS sold more.

I've had my B6-ME for 5 years so far with 136k miles, burns very little oil, no prior rebuilds, compression is at ~155 across, gets ~28mpg, and have never had anything major happen. Still convinced that EVERYTHING was original when i bought it and still is besides sparkplugs, wires thermostat, and air filter.

Also, i drive it as hard as an 88hp car can be and love it none the less

Hope that helps even the slightest.
