Last year, I got it to pass as a KL08, even without EGR, and with all the mods I have. It wasn't easy.
Since then, something went screwy with MegaSquirt, and I lost that tune, so I'm starting over. I have 99% Isopropyl Alcohol, denatured spirits (Ethanol), and Acetone. I'm thinking about buying natured spirits (Everclear), too. I wonder if one is better than the others. What I'm thinking about doing is putting in 1 quart of denatured alcohol, 1 quart Isorpopyl, and 1 ounce Acetone, into the tank with the "E" light on, and running through emissions. I'll have 5 gallons of regular gas with me to fill immediately afterward. For fun, I ran through emissions without doing anything different, and I was almost exactly 2x all of the limits. Also, I have it idling at 500 rpm, which I don't know will work with the other fuels in there.

a low idle isnt necessarily your best bet. higher idle = more heat = cats working better, it sucks you dont have access to a 5 gas analyser. the car is also able to get a better burn with a higher idle as its not working as hard to keep everything moving. do you have a rolling test or just idle? how old is your cat? it might be in your best interests to find a shop thats willing to work with you, or just let you play with the 5 gas machine. i bet by playing with the idle speed, tuning the car slightly rich and a new cat would be enough to get you to pass. even though a good cat is expensive, its worth it to have just for emissions testing (depending on how often your tested). at the very least you could only throw it on the car when its time to get tested and you wouldnt have to worry about it wearing out.

Acetone with blended gas. Use like 10 ozs. I also unplugged my pvc and it lowered my readings. Good luck. Post your reading will ya, noob.

SO, I pretty much dumped all the various chemicals in, and kept the idle high, while waiting in line.
I went through one time a few days ago without doing anything, to get a 1st test baseline.
The final results were:
HC Standard 220 1st test 550 2nd test 91
CO Standard 1 1st test 2.1254 2nd test 0.0000
So, it works!

wow ill have to remember that next time around. what was your idle/how much gas was in the tank when you added everything?

I was at about 1/8 tank, and idle was about 600.
Yeah, I couldn't believe that the CO was not even a ten thousandth of a percent! I was worried that the car would run badly on the concoction, but it ran just fine. I went across the street, and filled with premium directly afterward, and am looking forward to the concoction being burnt off. I will not push the car until then. Mooneggs and I had a very fun drive the day before, so I got it out of my system.
