quick egr/intake question?

Post by mikeinaus »

does the egr bolt onto the head or the manifold? my new klze chip didnt have the egr code removed and im thinking of attempting to modify the intake or possibly switch for a millenia intake (millenia is the one with the proper shape intake ports correct?). how off are the vris points from a millenia curved neck intake vs a curved neck klze intake? if its better to modify the ze intake would it be as simple as drilling a hole into the intake, then welding on a pipe with a mounting plate then running the vacuum lines/solenoids? from what im thinking it could be modified and installed within a few hours at most, and would make emissions testing that much easier...

It depends. KLDE and K8 EGR's bolt to the head, the milli one bolts to the manifold, closer to the front of the engine (by front I mean belt side)

Send the dude back his chip for the $5 postage and get him to re-flash it without the code. Way easier than custom rigging up an EGR. The thing is enough of a b---- to fix when its not jimmy rigged.

I bolted my EGR on connecting the vac, electrical and coolant (cuz I was lazy) and no code :D The exhaust was not connected.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

that was the suggestion of the guy who made my chip. apparently removing the egr code from the chip is harder then youd think and i dont know if he knows what section of code that needs to be modified. other then the egr code im very happy with this chip, the car seems to drive smoother then with the probinator and the vris feels more natural then before. itd be nice to actually have a working egr. emissions and the slight improvement in mileage egr makes are worth a try at getting it running IMO, but if its going to be expensive or alot of work its not that important i guess.

how far off are the vris points on the millenia im then the ze curved neck Ryan? regaining the egr would be nice but if its going to affect throttle response noticeably it might not be worth while.
