Been meaning to ask this for a while... this thread reminded me to bring it up: http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=75848
I realize that there is a seller on ebay that uses the term "Kouki" on some of the mx-3 items that are listed. I finally looked up "Kouki" and from what I can tell, it is a japanese word that means second generation or later and is applied to some "JDM" parts to identify later generation model parts.
So my thought is can we call 1994+ interior parts Kouki, cause they are redesigned from 92-93 MX-3's? Are they technically 2nd gen? Or does this term only apply to chassis codes?
Even so, in the case MX-3 external parts, I would consider them all non-kouki since they are all the same and that Kouki should only apply to the minimal interior parts that are different... thoughts?
Found this thread talking about it: http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=285027

Re: Kouki or not?
yeah, i think a lot of people just add kouki to stuff to make it sound cool because a lot of the kouki stuff for 240's or RX-7's and stuff were actually real and cool (well, IMO)
"yo bra, check out my kouki side skirts, they the shiz!"

Re: Kouki or not?
From the 240 guys, I think it's more referring to the actual JDM parts than what generation they're from. For example the Silvia front end and aero kit on an S14 is Kouki, or the Silvia front end on an S13 instead of the pop up headlights. If you were to apply that same principle to MX-3s it would be like saying the bumper with the foglights is Kouki. It's really just another way to say J-Spec. Since the MX-3 didn't really have any other major variants (it looks the same all over the world as opposed to cars like the 240SX) this whole Kouki thing doesn't really work for it.

Re: Kouki or not?
Zenki = First model
Kouki = Later model
My 240 is a Zenki as it was the first years it came out with that style, the slanted headlights (97+) is a kouki as it was the later face lift.
Same goes with the older s13's.
