hesitation engine or transmission
I've been having some issues with "off and on" hesitation with my auto 92 k8 v6 .
Its usually more noticeable when the car is at running temp.
i am wondering if it may an issue with the engine or transmission or even fuel system

Re: hesitation engine or transmission
could be any number of problems, hesitation on the trans end can be the kickdown cable out of adjustment could be a loose throttle cable or fuel/spark issues. FYI the biggest killer of the auto trans on these cars is heat, the factory cooler was crap its just a pipe thats it, upgrading to a better cooler with an inline filter will damn near double the trans life, especially in stop and go traffic like in a city environment. When was the last fluid/filter change for the trans? Also when was the last tune up on the car?

Re: hesitation engine or transmission
I dont when the last time the fulid/fliter was changed, i got it at the auction and it came if no service info.
as for the tune ups i've put in a new fuel filter, plugs gapped to .43, leads, pick up, dis cap, roter, vaf, and a coolant flush (rather quite a poor flush tho).
the fuel filter i pulled off looked like it was the original one.

check the condition of the atf, if its brownish smells kinda like cats pee or god forbid dark brown then get it changed with a new filter asap.

Re: hesitation engine or transmission
you should be able to reach it from under the car the pan should be on the bottom of the trans, it needs to be removed to change the atf filter.

Re: hesitation engine or transmission
No there are no drain plug in the auto trans pans on these cars, you will need to unbolt the pan loosen the rear and then side bolts then with the drain pan in position you undo the front ones and that will allow it tilt to the rear so that it drains relatively mess free. There is a torque spec when you put them back on but if you do them up so that they are all the way in plus a 1/4 turn then that puts them to very close to spec. Once you drop the pan you will see the filter there its easy to remove once the pan is off. Check the online manuals on the site if you are totally unfamiliar with the job and have never done it, they have all the info you need.

Re: hesitation engine or transmission
its not beyond the realm of possibility, but its an oddity to have one on an auto trans, if there is count yourself lucky and use it, either way though you will need to drop the pan to change the filter.
