Re: K8 Ideal exhaust size
Some will say 2", some will say 2.25"
I'd say 2.25" with a nice big resonator and that hks muffler should do. Headers will help abit too but don't expect to much gain from all this, just sound.

I wouldn't go bigger than 2" on a K8.

Re: K8 Ideal exhaust size
Perhaps. More and more are doing 2.5" on a KLZE as 2.25" doesnt provide the top end that a 2.5" does.Nd4SpdSe wrote:2.25 on a K8? People were saying lately that 2.25 was ideal for a KL...
As I stated, a 2.25" would work on a k8 with abit of backpressure.. Aka stock cat (he didnt mention headers or hi flow cat) stock downpipes, a nice big resonator and a muffler of course at the end. I dont seem no harm in 2.25" and if he wanted to upgrade to klze later then he would already have a exhaust in place.
Re: K8 Ideal exhaust size
Am doing a KL-DE swap which I will rebuild with forged internaks to do my twin rear turbo set-up. And for all those who doubt that or shun it...Shut Up! Not really lookin for power outta my k8 cuz there's not much to be had. Jus doin lil thing to make me happy while I get funds for the rest. You don't want backpressure, you want velocity.solo_ryder wrote:Perhaps. More and more are doing 2.5" on a KLZE as 2.25" doesnt provide the top end that a 2.5" does.

Indeed, for a true 2.5", you'd have to measure the inner diameter, and have it mandrel bent, but although it would be perfect to have once a KL swap was done.

Re: K8 Ideal exhaust size
i have a 2.25" high flow magnaflow exhaust on my k8, its loud and i didnt notice much performance gain (if any) over my stock exhaust with massive leaks. i got it with the intention of eventually doing a kl swap, but im reconsidering my resonator and/or muffler.

In the end its a k8, dont think he will notice a difference between 2" and 2.25".Nd4SpdSe wrote:You don't want backpressure, you want velocity.solo_ryder wrote:Perhaps. More and more are doing 2.5" on a KLZE as 2.25" doesnt provide the top end that a 2.5" does.

Re: K8 Ideal exhaust size
All good advice on pipe size. Don't forget the resonator. You can just use a second straight thru muffler (same thing). Your ears will thank you later. Personally on a KLDE w/ headers and 2.25" pipe I used magnaflow 4" round x 20" straight thru muffler in place of a resonator. I've got essentially an OEM muffler on the end. Yeah it's old man style, but that's what I am. This setup isn't quiet, but at least my ears don't ring after driving the car.
