Unless you go and check it out yourself your really running a risk. They could be B grade engines that have damaged parts from mishandling. You really should check them out in person.

200K sounds like a lot of mileages!!

Do they give any warranty??

How much it will cost for the total to swap in a KLZE and replace the K8?
*For parts only, estimate!

I got both my klze and my k8 from this site but here's a link to a couple kl's from the same site:

http://www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/details.php?id=1657

http://www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/details.php?id=5705

http://www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/details.php?id=3783

http://www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/details.php?id=3288

the only thing I have to say about this place is that You should keep your old motor for parts...the kl i got didnt have the dizzy or the ignition control module and the k8 i got from them didnt have the Ignition Control Module but other than that they are very good people, i've bought 2 motors for my civic from them as well as one for my talon

edit: they also give a warranty but i cant remember what it is exactly

@ Daninski, I was planning to :) Just wanted to see if anyone had bought through them before I even took the time to check it out in person.

@ mmmx3, The mileage isn't listed. I was asking what the likelihood of them having that many miles on them could be.
The $500 ZE website had no warranty that I could find, whereas the more expensive ones have a 90 day warranty.
I'm not positive on the cost, I'm still trying to factor in discounts I can get from friends/family. If I can get an engine for under 700, I imagine I could have it in the car for about a thousand. It'll depend on how impatient I am mostly.

@ wreckedgs, Thanks for the links and info! I'll look into it asap.

With the curved necks you never know if it's the domestic millenia ZE's which aren't true KL-ZEs. Best thing to do is check out the head codes, and pop off the VC to see if it has KL31 cams.

@Nightshade, I thought of that... I won't buy anything unless I'm positive.

Also, the $649/$699 ZE's have 35-45k original miles on them according to the supplier.

It's easy for them to say 35-45k miles because it is impossible to confirm. Don't let that be the basis for your decision. Learn what you need to know about identifying the engine here and either learn what you need to know to evaluate the condition of the engine or take someone with you who can.

Know what to look for and get at least a 30 day warranty. Get it home and get it compression tested either in the car or on a stand before your warranty expires so that you can return it if necessary. If you're close enought to go look at the engine in person you are in a good position because you can just as easily return it if the compression is low. I would go so far as to video tape the compression test for proof...some of the engine importers out this way are very slimey.

Sadly, you're right ;( I can't make it over to NJ, it'd cost me more than the engine just to make the trip. :(

I'll probably look for a west coast supplier, or try to get it through a local shop(Owned by a friend).

I'll do my best, thanks for the tips wytbishop and everyone else too!!

When you pull the valve cover to check the cams or condition (no rust on cams etc) the colour of the metal is one indicator of the engines milage. Very light Honey colour 100,000k to 120,000k then the darker the colour the more miles on the engine. There's previous posts here on this with pics. Using the Search may bring these past posts up for you.

Thanks a bunch, I'll remember that!

Yeah, I failed on that one. Didn't spend enough time custom tailoring the search for the details I needed, I took the lazy road to save hours of digging ;( Sorry for that.
