KLZE question before I buy
Ive finally found an mx3 id like to buy, the guy selling it has a full klze engine, with a klde manifold. But he said its gutted and ported. I was just wondering how that would affect the car/horsepower before i buy it? thanks

Re: KLZE question before I buy
Your probably better of finding a proper curved neck IM.. It should work though, but may not run right because a ecu would be kinda tough to match up to something like that.trickery22 wrote:Ive finally found an mx3 id like to buy, the guy selling it has a full klze engine, with a klde manifold. As for the motor.. read up abit more on the KLZE to make sure it is really a KLZE.. MAKE SURE the head codes are KL31-1A1 and KL31-101.. NO KL-1A1 and KL-101

Re: KLZE question before I buy
I would also check the oil to make sure it is not thick (rub it between your fingers, it should be pretty thin, and not gritty at all), get it off the dip stick is fine. If the oil on the dip stiuck is low ask how long ago the oil change was done. If it is missing much consider that it might have worn valve guides or piston rings. Also, look into the valve cover through the oil cap to check for any goopy looking dark stuff built up in the corners. If so it is old burned oil that has turned to sludge. Just like the Castroil commercial. This means the car was run hard, or the oil was not changed properly. Check the rear bumper for any black stuff collecting near the exhaust pipe. If so the motor is burning oil. Look under the engine for any leaks. Check that the battery is clean and does not have any corrosion. IF they are a member here ask them what their member name is.
My number 1 advise before buying any car- take it to a trusted mechanic and have them do a pre-purchase check on the car. They can identify problems much better than non-mechanics and can tell you what you are getting into.
