What's your hobby?

Post by MX3-4U2NV »

Well, I used the search function first, and when I searched for hobby, pretty much everyone is talking about their car being their hobby.

So, let's turn this thread in to our hobbies we do, ASIDE from our cars. I have friends that collect $200 action figurines, to vintage street signs as a hobby.

I will start...

My main hobby I think would be r/c vehicles. I have professionally raced on road gas/nitro cars for roughly 16 years. Just recently, I have gotten myself in to r/c helicopters. And I'm not talking your $35 2 channel Air Hog styrofoam ones. I'm getting in to the 6 channel $200 range ones currently.

Recently I asked Deb to pick me up a trainer helicopter from someone close to her. It's a $129.99 helicopter, I got for $40 from Craigslist. Seeing as my birthday is in 13 days, I let my family know they can all get me a gift certificate to HobbyHobby down the street from where I live, so I can purchase an E-flite mSR. Apparently it's the next thing to use after you master the current mCX I got Deb to help me with.

Here are some shots of the mCX trainer helicopter;

And here are some of the mSR

I also collect slot cars. Remember the little cars on the black track you plug in to the wall, and have a little gun to race them around the track? Well, I have enough track to go around my house roughly 3.8 times. I've done the math. I have professional race slot cars, to just a plain crash'em up slot car. Every year in October, I go to Huttonville close to home, and attend the Slot Car convention.

I have a few other hobbies, that aren't as major as those two, so I'll leave it at that.

Ya, my vehicles have all kinds of aspects of hobbism, small and large, expensive and affordable.

When younger, was big into astronomy and geography.

I used to be into R/C cars for a while since I was a kid, until my dad blew up my charger using it for a test supply. Haven't played with them since.

I did get into computers, build, fix, play games, mod, but turned more into a job than a hobby, but I still enjoy it. It took a sideline when I got into cars but also when my jobs involved alot of travel. Was pointless to spend money on a computer that I would rarely be around to use. The ironly is that when I use it the most, I don't have money to spend on it.

I've got a 360, used it alot in the last 15 months, but I can't afford any new games, and the ones I have, the off-line play is no longer entertaining, and my internet performance has been poor since September, and horrible in the last few weeks, so online play is not stable nor enjoyable.

What really gets me... is the 16" -> 90cm

That conversion is throwing my brain for a loop. Exactly how big ARE those things? *Scratch head*

LOL.... u big babies....HAHAHAHA!

90cm is about 3ft tall.

They all have the face painted on by me,
their clothes are made by me, the eyes are inserted into the eye socket
from in side the back of the head (which is removable)
The hair is wigs, the shoes are made in hongkong mostly.
They are all strung tight with thick stretch cord for full articulation.
They all have names and specific looks & characteristics.
Some are tan while some have fair skin tones.
Some have the mouth opened slightly and wear teeth (like the eyes) LOL!
