heat in 94mx3
Re: heat in 94mx3
Run the car till its warmed up. Pop your hood and grab both
radiator hoses. If both are warm its not your thermostat. If
the top is warm and the bottom cold there is no coolant flow
and your water pump might need to be replaced.

Re: heat in 94mx3
how do you check a waterpump?
If there's a lot of K on that one, just replace it.... Its not that big a deal on the I4's.
Could also flush the coolant. You can do that on your driveway.

Re: heat in 94mx3
I had the same problem. At normal Operating Temp both your rad hoses should be extremely hot. If one of them is not.
On the firewall you will see two hoses connected to metal fittings. These fitting ends belong to the Heater Core. Disconnect both ends of the hose ( be careful you will lose some coolant) and spray water in it using a garden hose, be sure to get adequate water pressure in there to clean up the buildup. Water will come gushing out of the other disconnected side. I kept my hose on the fitting for about 5 minutes. Now spray water into the other side for 5 minutes.
Once done, put the hoses back on, bleed the coolant and enjoy your heat!!
the hardest part is getting the hoses off of the fittings, what i did was follow the hoses to the block and disconnected them there. I also sprayed water into the hoses right there also.
Whole process should take no longer than 30mins.
Let me know if this helped!!

Re: heat in 94mx3
You could do the whole system at once, and just disconnect ONE of the heater core hoses, and put a garden hose in there for like 10 minutes, with the car running. Mine liked to accumulate floaties.
