oh oh! 323 steering rack problems

Post by hgallegos915 »

HMMMM
ok

I dont know whats wrong... I checked my tie rods.. they dont have any movement.. its like my steering wheel doesnt have immediate responce, it lags.. what could it be? the rack itself being bad? mayb the bolts holding it?

what happens is that when im driving on a straight away all of the sudden it feels like if someone moved the steering wheel a bit to the side but the steering wheel is in the same place. it has play. I barely installed this a few months back.. what can possibly go wrong ona simple rack installation?

I'm not too good with these problems but it's sounds like something is slopping about. I'd be checking all bushings around the control arms, the ball joints, links etc. There can't be much to go wrong with that rack surely...?

What they said.

If you're sitting still, can you turn the steering wheel a little before the wheels start to move? Do you have to keep moving the steering wheel slightly side to side to keep going straight?

Alot of things can go wrong on a rack installation...wrong size, rejection...oh wait, you meant steering rack...

How's your alignment?

I would say endlinks, but it sounds like you already checked them...

maybe just check everything... it's possible something has come loose?

Yes check everything. Wait, maybe you have a loose cigarette lighter knob, yes that's it. Tighten the lighter knob and your all set. (sorry moon no insult intended) :D

Is it possible the rack itself is loose?
