K SPORT COILOVER PROBLEM

Post by mx3gulf »

Hey everyone, am from the uk, have got some issues with my new k sport coilovers. Think I have been sent the wrong ones, I think I have had 323 ones sent instead, The issues I have are that the rear tyres are not clearing the springs, the inside diameter of the springs are 2.5" and they are approx 9" long. in order for the springs to clear, they have to be wound down so much, to approx 6", that there is no rebound whatsoever, I have got onto my supplier and he is on the case for me and hopefully he can resolve it for me, but I am just curious to know if the spring length/diameter is the correct one, hopefully someone in the good old USA can help me as I know this suspension is more popular over here, has anyone else had problems with fitment? Heres a pic of my car, nearly there

Post a picture of the problem to help understand whats going on better, cause from your description, I am not understanding how the length of the spring is interfering with your tire or tyre;)
What exactly is interfering with your tire?

Can't post picture as I have taken shocks off. Let me try and explain better.......

When I bought car it had stock suspension fitted with lowering springs.
Have bought k sport coilovers, when fitting them I measured ride height from stock shocks and set them up to be 2" lower than stock suspension. you adjust the height by spinning the strut mount up for lower. The springs were hand tight + one full turn on the ring adjuster (9" long). I then fitted the k sports to the mx3. Upon fitting the wheel (standard 205/55/15/) I noticed that the inside of the tyre was not clearing the spring, its rubbing on it. So to remedy this I had to wind up the spring so it was 6" long to clear the tyre, but this has given me no rebound at all, go over a bump and the car bounces! Like I said, I think they are not the correct springs/suspension, therefore I am asking if anyone has k sports fitted to there mx3, if they could tell me there suspension settings

Hope this helps,

I have D2s on mine, same thing as KSports. I had no issues with my 225/50/15 tires. To fit my 245/45/17s I have to preload the springs to make them clear because the of the high offset of my rim combined with a wide and high diameter tire.

I can't see how you'd have any problems fitting a 205 width tire on there. Is your rim a really high offset? A 205 tire shouldn't be sitting close enough to rub the spring or perch on a fully adjustable coil over.

I'd have to see pics before I could post any further on the issue.
