Hi guys,
I thought, the curved neck KL-ZE has KL-01 cams. Such as my engine.
But yesterday I saw a curved neck KL-ZE with KL-31 cams. It was NOT a straight neck block with curved neck intake manifold.
Did you ever heared about a curved neck with KL-31 cams?
Greetz!

Re: KL-ZE curved neck + KL-31 cams
Could be that someone swapped the curved neck for a straight neck. --OR-- Someone could have switched out the cams.... From my knowledge on the ZE (from reading on here) it probably didn't come from the factory that way.
This is what I recall....
Curved neck IM- KL-01
Straight Neck IM - KL31
Someone swapping the cams, or the heads for that matter, could have caused this.

Re: KL-ZE curved neck + KL-31 cams
There have been cases discussed on Probetalk of late number series curved neck blocks having KL31 cams straight from Japan. The theory discussed there was that at the end of the KL family's run they had KL31 cams to use up. There was also a guy that got a straight neck engine with KL01 cams IIRC. I'm pretty sure every combination you can imagine has been seen at some point. However those are exceptions. The rules generally still apply.

I honestly don't remember. I hardly ever post there so really it's just a research tool for me. You can just go over there and read for hours and learn all kinds of stuff.
