Well my K8 just a few teeth on the timing belt and screwed up the front head... Timing belt was ate up by something but who cares ZE time!! After tax's it came out to $915 for the engine from one of my suppliers and here is what I got!!
1994 toyota supra single turbo
1994 Mazda MX-3 KL-ZE
1994 GS 5 speed 1.8, fresh black paint, flowmaster muffler & Little smelly pine tree
1993 RS 5 speed SOHC with 89,000 original KMs! (rising fast though).
1994 RS 4 cyl auto- running parts car with 104,000 KMs
It was my local Mazda mechanic that told me 1.8 was interference, hes been working at Mazda for 10 years, sorry I believed him
I m not always right but my advice is usually not bad, sry if I offended people. I m only on MX 3 for fun and to learn.

No worries bud. No one is offended. I'm just perplexed that there's top end damage with a broken timing belt.
Mind you, being non-interference motor doesn't mean it's 100% damage-proof, but unless you were hard on the motor when the belt went, typically everything should be ok.

If you ever blow a timing belt on a Neon twincam 2.0 you will know about top end damage, no wonder they went bankrupt today !

Outside motor looks clean, hopefully that translates to the internals. Your going to love the increase in power and the increase in penis lenght that comes with having a ZE in your car.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
Using a K8 ECU and VAF just makes it run way rich. Rich isn't bad, but it waste alot of fuel. One thing to lean it out would be to use a KL02 VAF on the K8 ECU. The KL31/36 ECU's require the stock Mx-3's JE50 VAF
