YES! I'm going to make a fiberglass hood exactly like that. I've been wanting to for a couple years. I like how they call it "Badlook".v6powered wrote:in my opinion, it would look a lot better like this:

Re: Spyder/ carpart4u Headlights/ OEM comparison
my lights have already shipped. ups site says i should get them on wednesday. i already have hids in my stock lights, so as long as my h1 bulbs arrive by wednesday ill take a couple of pictures and do a write up. (so long as one isnt up by then) the kit i have now is a 35 watt one and doesnt require relays. i was told on the phone when ordering the projectors that the wiring would be plug and play... but i still cant see the high-beam working w/ the ballast providing the juice... guess ill find out. hey jesse, let me know if you do install your hids by wednesday because i'm really wondering how it's going to play out.

I added HID pics to the first post.
Here is the color of them:
They're alot less blue than I expected. I really like the color.

OK, Jesse, the little knob on the top of the XTI, that has M, A, Tv, ect.
Switch it on M.
The little wheel thing next to the "shoot" button, you want to move that until the number on the screen hits 30 (or 15, if you have a super steady hand.
now hit the Av button and hold, while turning the same wheel... it should be something like 4, 5.6, 8 ect.
You want that number as LOW as possible, so 3.5 if possible.
Now hit the ISO button, and play with either 400 or 800. If those are too bright/grainy, drop it down to 200.
Now take a couple shots of what you want. If it's too bright, lower the ISO again. If it hits 100, and it's too bright still, increase the 30 (or 15, mr. steady hands) to 60.
Once you get the desired brightness, use that setting for ALL your comparison pics, there will be no "auto compensation" for light.
I own (now two) of the original Digital Rebels (300D), so I didn't pull all of this out my arse

Thanks, SuperK!
At first, I thought you were talking nonsense to hurt my brain, and it almost worked, but at the edge of insanity, I got the context.
It's Silvergirl's camera, and I left it to her to set it.

Admittedly, I liked the ebay style headlights better than the spyder version...
... but seeing them both installed, I have changed my mind!

Me too...I dislike the "quality" look of the other style, they look to be cheaper made, and the halo's don't lite up as well...but I still dislike the LEDs in the this one...I wish there was an easy way to dismantle the light and take them out, then smooth the area!

Re: Spyder/ carpart4u Headlights/ OEM comparison *NOW with HID!
Once they're officially mine, I'm going to take them apart, and do a write-up. I've grown accustomed to the LEDs. You can't really see them when they're off because of reflection on the outer part of the light housing, and when they're on, they look pretty cool, because you can't see their housing. I've decided I'm going to put 3 more of the exact same LEDs into the outer part of the housing, and run all 6 as turn signals.

I like the look of the other's better, but seeing pics of these installed and them installed changed my mind as well.
Until I see some better pics of the others, I'll be in the group buy.

Ditto. This design looks better on the car. It makes it look wider. The other design looks cross-eyed.

Re: Spyder/ carpart4u Headlights/ OEM comparison *NOW with HID!
I agree with you guys. I liked the design of the other ones, because of the LED placement. However, after running these, I not only got used to the 3 LEDs, I like them. After seeing that the other version didn't have the correct thickness of rubber, I further question the quality of the rest of them. I DON'T like the lines on top of the halos on the other design, and would really like to see quality pictures of them, seeing as how all the pics I've seen make them appear lesser quality than the Option Racing/ Spyder set, including the halos themselves.
I almost giggle every time I see the front of my car, now It's REALLY updated, and not ricey.
The HID kit is 6,000k H1.

Re: Spyder/ carpart4u Headlights/ OEM comparison *NOW with HID!
Looks like that horrible blob of light is still there, without the water. That's how a projector, especially with HID's, shouldn't look! OEM halogen projectors often do something similar called a "squirrel finder". They're small rectangular cut outs in the cutoff shield that allow a small amount of light through to help with signs, etc. that are abouve the regular cutoff line. But that blob is ridiculous!! You might as well have your high beams on for oncoming drivers! And the rest of the beam looks narrow and uneven on the ground.fowljesse wrote:Here you go!

I'm not trying to dis on these so hard, they look absolutely awesome! I'm just disappointed with the output, which for me is the whole point! I retro'd a set of Subaru halogen projectors into my Escort, just so I could see better, and it's ugly, but very functional! Here's a pic with a brand new factory headlamp on the driver's side, and the projector on the passenger. You can see the squirrel finder a bit, it's since been closed off. An HID kit is on the way for this car as we speak:
And on the car:
Looks like my FX35 retrofit is still in progress! I ordered clear lenses for the projectors, as one of mine is the "foggy" version, and E46 replica shrouds last night.
And a pic of the passenger side in progress:
