For MPG, research has proven that 89 octane is the best value. Higher octane generally nets more MPG, but cost per mile is best with mid grade. I get 35 MPG FWY in my stock GS with 1.5 oz. Acetone per tank, and 33 in my ZE.

Yeah I just did a tune up. Wires, Plugs,Oil change / Tranny oil change, Fuel filter/oil filter,Cap n rotor... It seems to be running rich and lacks power. I just put in new o2 sensors in.. but thats another story.

I put 91 in just to be a smart a--. Most people are paying $70-100 dollars to fillup on 87. From empty I only pay about $45 for 91 so in your face SUV and truck owners.
Rule of thumb is the minimum octane it takes for your vehicle to run properly is what you use. There's no benifit going to a higher octane.

well, let's start this ...

Portugal ... average monthly pay = 1150.00 USD
Portugal ...
fuel available = 95 octane = 2.33180 USD a liter ...
fuel available = 98 octane = 2.53468 USD a liter ...

since 1 liter = 0.264172052 US gallons , it costs a portuguese about

fuel available = 95 octane = 8.74 USD a gallon ...
fuel available = 98 octane = 9.49 USD a gallon ...

my K8 drinks about 10 liters to make 100km ... so it costs me about ... 23$us to travel 100kms ( about 62 miles )

I used to use 98 gas in my car, but u can see that i couldnt afford that way.
I decided to use 95 , and i had a wonderfull surprise. The car runs better on 95 , it pulls beter and i can travel more miles with it for the same gas.
I dont really understand why, but it does.

ps: can u get why i want to move way from Portugal ?
and i work for the biggest portuguese oil company ( Galp )

I average 24MPG in the city and 30MPG on the highway on 87 octane. I just filled up on 91 and the car was really wanting to stall out and making little backfires all the time, I had to even retard my timing so it would stop predetonating and will likely have to change it back when I fill up on 87 again. So I would just recommend that you stick with what has been working for you and if you want to try something new don't get a full tank of it.
