New Radiator, Extra Fittings??

Hey guys, I got a new rad in the mail today... it looks pretty much the same as my old one, but, there is two metal fittings that come out on the side along the fan, it looks like hoses go on them, but on my old rad, they arent even there, what exactly are these for, and how do I bypass them? just put a hose going from one to the other? or is there a way to clos it, or is it already closed? lol...

That radiator is from an automatic.
If your is a manual just leave them be, you have no need for them
