Post by *Y* »

Hey guys I just wanted to ask your advice about these rims. Are they any good, has anyone ever had any experience with them?[

Haven't used them but they weigh 4.7 lbs each more than mine.

They are rims, what do you need to know. They look like muscle car rims...

They are heavy as hell, and yes you will feel it. As far as looks go they are sweet =D

Mine are E1's I think, they were out of the F7s.

LOL, I like how it says lightweight 20lbs. 20lbs isn't lightweight for a 16" rim. That's seriously heavy.

I like the look of Sport Edition rims, too bad they're a "value" brand, which means they're not appropriate for competition driving. I wouldn't put them on my car, but if all you're after is looks and cheap price, then sure. At that weight I'm guessing they'll be solid enough not to crack if you hit a pothole, but they'll be hard on your suspension and engine, because they're so heavy.

Good wheels can cost up to $500 per rim, but you don't have to pay that much. Rota makes decent cast lightweight replica wheels, such as Slipstreams or Subzeros. You can find them for $120 per rim.

There's a thread on top that lists some good wheels. Check it out.

Just keep in mind that in the end of the day you only get what you pay for.

awesome pic man, very clean MX-3. I'm a big fan of the wheels (kind of look like RX-8 rims)!

Yeah I really love the five spoke design Mazda has had recently, too bad it seems they are slowly moving away from it ( i.e. the 2009 RX-8)

Is 20 LBS to much? im not familiar with the weight effecting the driving of the car (but i guess it would if you really think of it.), is there a 16' 5 spoke rim that are nice and bold like these that are lightweight? Im a sucker for 5 spoke! haha

An actual lightweight rim is usually around 11 pounds, plus or minus a couple. The F7's look REALLY nice, but I don't know how this crackpot can get away advertising them as lightweight.

Extra weight on the wheels has much more of an affect than the same amount of weight being carried by the chasis.
