yeah, it will increase performance some, and the sound will become different, but most of that will depend on the muffler you decide on.
For a B6 or the K-08s, i'd recommend 2.0" exhaust piping for a cat-back....better to keep the low-end than the normal 2.25" you see everywhere.

to do a cat-back on an mx isn't really worth the money. the performance gain is very minimal. altering the factory exhaust for the mx will more than likely hurt your hp. not sure what the factory diameter is, but it's about the best size for a stock motor. as far as sound, your best bet is to just get a performance muffler.
vlad, a 2.25 would be a good setup for your v6. by the way, what part of philly are you from?
[ December 14, 2001: Message edited by: cre8v mx3 ]

A 2.0" cat-back will help power. However, if you look at what is available, you will see 2.25" systems. These systems will hurt your low and midrange power because the piping is simply too big to keep the exhaust gas velocity high enough. The 2.0" will free up the excess restriction of the stock system while keeping the exhaust gas velocity high, and therefore, increasing power.
As for piping diameter on a 2.5L KL, id say a bare minimum of 2.25", but im thinking (not sure) that the KL would be breathing enough to merit the use of a 2.5" system. David may possibly have some dyno charts or other information on this, so ill have to ask him.
