Gas Lever really Stiff, hard to lift up

My gas lever is really stiff and seems to always get worse as the weather gets colder. The trunk one seems ok though. It's becoming so hard to lift it enough to open the gas.<P>Any ideas what I might be able to do to improve this?

Hey Andrew,<P>I had the same problem before. I actually had a little rust forming in the area and it continued through around it too. I fixed the problem by spraying some rust inhibitor (the pink stuff) thing on it. Moved the leaver around and sprayed some more. Hope that helps.<BR>~DK

i've got the same exact problem with my escort gt, btw the gas/trunk lifts on the egt are exactly the same as the mx-3. there are so many little similiarities like this between the 2 cars.

I think maybe I'll try some WD40 on it.

let me know if you have any luck because i tried some wd40 and it's still stiff... i dunno i'll probably have it checked out.

Had the same problem. Just spray some "rust check" and you won't have this problem again.<P>hope this help
