Tranny seal problems!?!

I have a feeling that Mazda gave me the wrong seal. I have been working at it for a few hours now and still no luck. It appears that the seal is smaller than the actual area that it seats itself in. The seal itself is made of such hard plastic that I don't think I will be able to get it to stretch. If I were to cut part of it so that it would stretch a little or heat it up to make it fit better would this have an adverse affect on its sealing properties? If nothing will work, how bad would the seal be and would I be able to drive home with it like that. I am visiting my parents this weekend and am 2 hours away from home and I need to leave tomorrow afternoon. There are no Mazda dealers here and no automotive parts shops open on the Sunday.<P><BR>
