1.6 liter just dies

Post by jr8ucsc »

I have a weird problem that I cannot figure out. My 1993 mx3 1.6 sohc engine starts up cold and idles great, BUT when it get to operating temp it just dies. it will start right back up and idle for a minute and then dies again. I check for spark and get none when It dies. Could the thermotemp sensor do this or is it something else? please help!!!!!!

ya it sounds like it since the sensor controls air fuel ratio and if its dead prob cuts fuel off. but its a cheap easy fix. you could also have a bad 02 sensor as well.

Id suggst pulling your codes.

Jump GND to TEN in your diag box and put the car in the "ON" position, not starting tthe car.

Count the blinks of your Check Engine Light (CEL) and refer to the online manual on this site to see what the codes mean.

I will try the code thing. I was wondering if it could be done that way. The manual said you needed a special tool. Thanks for the info. :)
