Heater Blower going, going. gone?

Post by Graphixv »

My heater blower seems to have went out.

It would occasionally blow at a reduced speed but would turn on at any position (Just running slower than expected). It also made kind of a clicking sound at times (almost like a leaf obstruction) At other times it would run normally.

Then it started not working at all/working intermittenly. It could have synched with hitting a bump in the road that would cause it to turn on and off.

Now it is failing to come on at any speed.

The AC light also comes on with the fan switch but no blower.

Does the above sound like a bad motor that should be pulled? what wires at the motor would be tested for power?

Sounds like a bad blower motor to me. I've never seen the wires on the motor, but it should be only two wires.

Obstruction

Post by Graphixv »

Took apart. Power to fan via cable. Fan tested inside and worked.
That obstruction sound I heard actually was, Helicopters on fan probably causing it to bind.

Now just need to clean out top guard.

Incidentally, That plastic area on the back of motor that pops off is a good place to oil the bearing near the fan.
