From what I have read, it is possible to swap the 4 banger for the v6. However, there seems to be ALOT of work to do that. I had thought about doing that to mine at first, but changed my mind and decided to save up for a bpt swap. It's almost a direct swap and from what I understand, will run with the v6's.

I too wanted the ZE in my car, '95... but alas, twasn't a drop in.

I am in love with the interior of the newer models, so I can't go for the v6 version, either :(

BP is an engine out of a 90-94 protege. Escorts also have them, as well as Kia Sephias. Do some searches I guarentee there's pretty much everything about BP's in this forum already, just takes a lot of reading and researching.

Whys isnt it a drop in? Everything bolts up without modification.

I put a BP into my GS w/o any issues. Now I am working on boosting it.

LOL Your gonna be doing a lot more than just swapping motors and trannies LOL

Swapping wiring harnesses... ecu.. suspension... steering rack & gear box converting your RS from a ATX to MTX.. so you will be swapping the pedal assemblies.. serious man.. this is not going to be a simple swap. My advice.. since you have the RS indoors. Strip it. Strip the engine bay of everything.. strip your interior out.. seats center column.. everything.. Once you have the RS a shell.. Start taking parts off the GS... make a list and prioritize everything.. it will go a lot smoother :)

Your kinda lucky cause you have a complete donor car to work with.. so a strip and swap wont be so bad. You can always do the rear end swap & disc brake conversion after you finish with the front end (though I would swap the struts before driving it too much just to be safe)

shifter linkage is the same, you can keep the steering rack and pump also, same with resivour, you dont' need to swap peddle assemblies if you already have a MTX ... you should change the radiator but don't have to.... it isn't as hard as people think i started witha v6 and put in a I4 (well it isn't in yet but almost)

His RS is a ATX so he will need to do the pedal swap. And I figured he would want the GS steering stuff so he has the better ratio steering. Since the GS was a bit sportier than the RS.
