I think jschrawen had the same problem.
Try testing the components the hall sensor is connected to - it could be a component failure within MS board itself.....
Hall sensor is probably putting out a square wave with varying pulse widths/frequency - so if you get a function generator you can hook it up and see if you get any rpm readings.
