acceleration trouble

Post by cooper_9 »

a couple weeks ago i had a problem where whenever i pressed down hard on the gas the engine would struggle and no power would go to the wheels. I was told to try the HEI mod and did, the problem improved so I figured I would live with it for a few more weeks until I can afford a ZE swap. But this week I've been losing almost all acceleration when I press the gas. The engine doesnt struggle, but instead the RPMs go up considerably faster than they used to but the car isnt moving faster with them. Its like I have to hit 5-6k revs in order to reach 40km/h in second gear, I used to be able to do about 70km/h. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this issue before and knows about a solution. Also, my engine light is going for O2s but those are in the mail and will be replaced as soon as they get to me (didnt think O2s would cause all of this though). Thanks for any help.

If you drive the car like that it will leave you stranded with no clutch pretty soon. The only way the RPMs can go up without the car moving as the proper rate of acceleration/KPH is if the clutch is bad or you are pressing the clutch pedal. Looks like a perfect time for a ZE of you can get a ride until you get all the parts together for the swap.

i figured clutch is gonzo. looks like its finally time for a ze swap. i'm looking at a Clutchmasters Stage I as a replacement because i'm only really a daily driver looking for a little more performance. Would this be a good clutch to go with for a ze? or should I go with something else?
