Testing waters: thinking of dropping my gurl for
Something much newer:
Have 95 RS
Thinking of 03/04 Tiburon
Any ideas?
Not in any rush but am in the thinking process.
Rather stay with 4cy, ie higher gas mileage
Don't really care for car to be fast, looks are more important.

Well then if looks is what you want then a Tibby is what you need. They look great and are a huge piece of crap. I read in one of my mags (Car and Driver maybe) that Hyundai is the second most expensive car to own for the first five years (only tested first year and first five years). Guess what the first was.... Range Rover. Yup, Hyundais cost more to repair and/or break more often than Mercedes, BMW, Saab, etc, etc.
The motor is a turd from what I've heard too. I test drove a V6 manual Tibby and it wasn't slow, but not any faster than my GFs 4 banger auto Celica.

You are correct, hyundias are rediculas to maintain as parts are retardedly expensive, if you get a tibby go for a 4 banger, the 6 is way underpowered and they have a lawsuit on thier hands for grossly overrating the HP to the customers.PATDIESEL wrote:Well then if looks is what you want then a Tibby is what you need. Hyundais have one of the worst resale values of any car in the market....just be aware that if you do get in an accident...they will prolly total it!!

hyundai is made by south korea not north.
jarid is right, if you get in a pretty decent accident the insurance will total it because of their extremely low price when new. if u want to get rid of it make sure u have full coverage then get into a decent fender bender and collect cash for downpayment on the next car.
hyundai's have had a bad history i the past for breaking down. while i am not a big fan of hyundai's myself, daewoo and hyndai have come a long way. to be able to offer the warranty they do, the cars are pretty reliable. car magazines rate daewoo as a poor mans lexus with similar build quality and the hyundai is not very far behind. korean cars now a days are probably as dependable as toyota's and honda's. there is not a korean car id buy but they are definately do not have the same quality and reliablity issues they did in the past.
not to mention for some odd reason the 4g63's that hyundai outsourced for their older tiburons had less problems than the 4g63's in mitsu's eclipse... kinda wierd huh?

My 2000 Accent was just as reliable as my 93 RS. Depends on how you maintain your vehicle. The problem I had with the Accent, was parts. There like Dell, not alot of aftermarket support, so basically most parts you get, comes from the Dealer, which means more expensive. But I've noticed there getting more Hyundai's at the junkyards here than Mx-3's.
