AB Convoy to Kelowna

Post by wyldside »

This is for anyone in Alberta who is planning to head to Kelowna on the morning of Friday June 23, 2006.

Firstly, here are some things you might want to consider bringing:

- FRS 2 Way Radio (If you want to communicate between cars while driving)
- Swim Suit (For pools and heading to the Beach)
- Large Towel (Good for lying on the beach)
- Digital Camera (Nice for getting photos and video for the website)
- Sun Screen (Unless you want to return looking Medium-Rare to Well Done)

For departure points, there will be 2:

For people coming from Calgary, we will meet at the PetroCanada Station at 16th Ave and Bowfort Rd NW (across from COP) at 5:00am. Leaving at 5:30am.

For people from other areas, you can bypass Calgary and meet at the large Petro Canada Station West of the city (Trans Canada hwy and Cochrane Rd/hwy22). At 5:45am we will stop there so that you may join the convoy. We will have our FRS Radios set to channel 5-11.

The Friday Schedule goes as follows:
* Friday, June 23rd 5:30am MST All MX-3s depart from Calgary (PetroCanada Station on 16th Ave and Bowfort Rd NW.
* 5:45am MST Brief stop at Hwy 1 & Hwy 22 Petro Station to join up with out of town MX-3s
* 7:30am PST (8:30am MST) Fuel up on Gas and Snacks in Revelstoke, BC
* 11:00am PST Arrive in Kelowna, BC.
* 11:30am PST Settle in Kelowna and find somewhere to eat lunch.
* After Lunch we will disperse to explore Kelowna, hit the beach, polish up cars, or sleep if want.

Well just aim for 5:00am so that you stand a greater chance of getting there before we leave at 5:30am.

Just another thought...
To help us all reduce our paylods for the trip, can we plan on only bringing so many 'car essentials'?

Things we should have:
FRS Radios (7 needed) - [Mark (2), James (2), Darcy (2)]
Spare tire - [Mark]
Jack - [Mark, Darcy]
Lug nut remover - [Mark, Darcy]
Booster Cables - [Mark, Darcy]
Socket set - [Darcy]
Metric, imperial wrench set - [Darcy]
Pliers, screwdrivers, etc. -
Spare can o' gas - [Darcy]
Massive 5-day cooler - [Darcy]
Camera - [Darcy, James]

Anything else we should bring? Let's make sure we have everything covered and minimal duplicates.

Ok, I've got the 1 set of FRS radios and the booster cables. Also, my spare, OEM jack, lug nut remover....the rest of the stuff that doesn't see the light of day unless I'm going to Race City. :D

Well I don’t have any radios, but I have a lot of tools with me screwdrivers, wrenches (in my purse lmao! That was funny) duct tape… LOL, that is my way of fixing a car… and I have a spare tire, I have a jerry-can for gas, I would just have to fill it when I get to the gas station. I think that I am opposite most of you, because I keep everything you could ever possibly need in my car
