swap idea 4cyl

Post by Ryencool »

I currently own a 92 rs. Ive been watching the mx seen for a while but lack the funds to do anyhting major..I hope by next summer I can do a swap..I was thinking though, maybe I should get stcok 4cyl from mazda, the engine currently in my car or a low mileage one, and turbo it..I could do my current engine but with almost 100k on it im a littel scared ast to what might happen..does this osund like a good idea? I mean I know it can only take 9psi ( i think ) but waht kinda HP would I be lookin at? if it isnt enough what can be done to beef up the little 4cyl? any info would be great..the b6t and bpt sound cool, but wiht wiring issues, axles, trannys etc...just seems a bit to much for me...Also does anyone know what the best turbo set up would be and cost? I mean would a miata kit be the best bet or somthing custom. Since the engine cant take much psi I was thinking just the stock mx6 turbo would do but im no expert :)

why the double posts? no matter. if you're talking about putting in another motor and slapping on a turbo, it would be cheaper to buy the b6t. either way you look at it, you would have to get bigger injectors, some type of fuel controller, and other items. your best bet is to get the b6t or bpt(d). my personal opinion on sohc engines, is that it's a waste of time if you want a "fast" car. if what you are is an enthusiast and you just enjoy modifying your car, that's all good. the sohc...it's just not a strong foundation for performance.
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

Ryencool, im pretty much in the same boat as you, I do have a couple options in mind though... I own a 92'Mazda MX-3 RS, and a Wrecked GS, I can pull that engine out and put it in my 4 banger, but that would take some time and money, or I can buy the B6T, which is a bit more powerful then the stock GS, either way its gonna cost money and time, your best bet is the B6T bro, ill probally go for the stock V6 because I already have it, and also at a later date do the 2.5 liter kl-ze engine swap for 200 horses, good luck to you bro

Well I jsut got a reply from a guys saying the engine can push 12-13psi, and he knows somone ho bummped it up to 20psi and was putting around 230hp out..that was with stock enternals hes said..I think im gonna go this route, just because its a lot less complicated , as far a wiring and matching up parts etc..I figure with a new to semi new engien I can get good results with some decent research...anyways my car was just broken into this morning, shattered my driver side window, an chance your parts car still has one and youll sell it to me cheap :)<P>Ryan
