I've got a 93' SOHC 1.6L MX-3.
I recently got done changing the waterpump and timing belt, after my timing belt snapped; but the car has had a problem since before...
The car has almost no power anywhere in the powerband, except for a 'sweet spot' at around 40% throttle. It's there almost all of the time, except for some instances when the car is cold.
I've ran the diag. on it and it came up with a code 2 (Ne-Signal). I've checked all of the connections, which seem fine. I'm to understand that this is a problem in the distributor, most likely the module in it? I have the external-coil distributor (if that makes a difference).
I'm pretty much wanting to double-check with the more knowlagabe people on this site; as I'm about tired of putting money into the rollerskate.
Also, if that is the case, and anyone has a good dizzy as mentioned above that they'd want to get rid of for ~$50 or so, please e-mail me at AgeofGlow@aol.com

Here's a link for a new disty for $100 (if nobody bids on it)

I am sure you probably done this already - but just to make sure - did you re-set the timing to spec(in diag mode) after you replaced stuff.
What is the condition of disty cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs etc?

I'll have to re-time it in diag. now that I know that's required. However, as I said, it did this before I ever replaced parts and got into it.
...but now that you mention it, this does remind me of a problem a friend had when his sparkplug wires went bad. Any other ideas?
I'd much rather fix the problem as cheaply as possible as the car is a definate beater. Properly working used parts are more my interest, than new parts for twice the price or more.

I dont know if its the same for SOHC - but in DOHC timing, idle etc has to be set in diag mode or the ecu will set it back to where it was before.
Here's a link for $70 disty -

I am sure if you search more or go to a junkyard you can find something much cheaper than that. Its not wise to get used cap, rotor, wires & plugs.
Just in case if you wanted to know how much a "new" disty costs -
