The Auto Zone Disaster
People are skeptical. Thats life. I'm sure you could more power, i mean when i got my exaust, my car handled better!
really? NO..i was just exited.
You coudl very well have more power, but the truth is people won't beleive you until you show the dyno results. And the physics wizards on this forum will beleive what they've learned over you unfortunatly. But welcome to the board, i'm sure you'll feel at home soon.
Oh and its spelt 'cause...abbreviation for because.

Takes some physics & engineering classes for the love of god.
Comparing a "dual intake" on a single-inlet intake manifold to the rotary engine is ridiculous. Simply hacking up some pipes & buying a bunch of couplers & throwing them onto a 4-banger and claiming it has as much ingeniuty & engineering as a rotary is ludicrous.
Let me ask you these questions:
1: what kind of "y-pipe" did you use? is it an exhaust y-pipe?
2: do you have a dyno sheet yet? "i can feel it making more power" is the lmost common excuse in the book. When I was 17 and wasted money putting a pacesetter exhuast on my protege I thought "it felt faster" too, but guess what.....when I finally got around to dyno'ing it, it made 108whp (with an intake i might add). There was a stock protege at the dyno day too and he made 112whp w/stock exhaust & intake.
1 ive taken physics thanks
2 its the y pype that autozone sells..aparently plastic..maby if your car wasnt god and you needed auto parts every once in a while youd go there
3 im almost nineteen...i live in cantonment florida...HOW IN THE HELL AM I GOING TO DYNO IT
4 i dont plan on ricing out my car thanks...all i said was it gave it more torque off the line and it did help with top end...as i told the other guy...IF YOU HAVE SPARE MONEY THEN TRY IT OTHER WISE QUIT b----ing
now...if you dont mind GOD...maby some other people can give their input too

you physics guys out there should know that when a wing like object (car) is moving through the air, the wind will be diverged and and a-- its diverged the preasure drops so the temp drops wich maks you suck up...OH...WAIT...COULD IT BE...COLDER AIR!

Dude, everyone here, including you is expressing opinions. There is no need to get so defensive. If we want to speak scientifically, everything that you are claiming is moot until you prove it. There is no difference here. We use standardized measuring devices because humans are prone to error. Not that we do it on purpose, but because when we are excited about something and we trick our minds. Like Exhaust making your car handle better. It sounds funny, but you might feel that way if you are all jacked up on a new exhaust fume high.
As for the Dyno, while I admit that nothing quite takes the place of on the road conditions, most Dyno's will put at least one High Velocity fan in front of your car to charge your intake with cool air. I wouldn't be surprised if there are no dyno's in Cantonment, but talk to some of your car buddies or anyone you see with a performance car. And chances are you will get a good recomendation of a performance shop with a dyno. You might have to go to Pensacola to do it...and if you go with a group, you can get a discount. otherwise you can plan on paying about $40.00 for 3 runs.

that and i wasnt the least bit excited when i had it on..i just got over being sick for a week and was preoccupied with stop and go trafic when i noticed i kept barking my tires when i drove like normal
and barking tires was not normal
if there is a dyno arround here id like to know because ive ben wanting to know where my car stands being as its pre owned
it only has 107xxx and i bought it with 106,5xx and its a 95

only listing in pensacola so far for those of you who want it
ill dyno it when i get extra money and finish my current..."project"..not the intake

the way i figure i get three runs for 40 (generaly) so im going to do the reg intake then switch to a dual short ram and then switch to my intake and see how each preforms
either way ill be getting what i want (to see my cars limits) on any one of the runs so either way i win
when i finaly do it ill post pics and dynos and a reference to this post

Cool. No, I don't live around there but I sell electrical products to a job that is going on there. International Paper I believe it is. We ship stuff there from time to time.
That sounds like a plan. You will probably have to ask the guy to print out a sheet with all 3 plots on if because most of the time they only print out the best of the 3. If you can find a bunch of folks to go with you. Like about 10 cars...you can probably get a good deal. Say, "We are looking to bring 10 cars would you give us all 3 runs for $XX.00 if we help you strap them down and everything?" I went with a car club that I have ties to and this is what they did, we took about 12 cars and they got us a little break.

nice
good idea
oh
and btw
i live about 3 mins from international paper
its off a highway so i pass it every day...
you should realy get some sort of inspectors down there..sometimes they burn too much to be legal..

You have to remember that the reason that we would like some proof, is that if it works and is fairly cheap, we would like to use it on our own cars. That means that we would like some proof before we spend the money.Gro Harlem wrote:why would i waste money trying something that I know will decrease power on my engine?4gotn wrote:the point is dont dissaprove it till you try it yourself

If you found a way to add power to engine, that we haven't heard of yet (or cant figure out why it works) AND can prove it, thats cool. In fact thats VERY cool, however experience tells us, that until proven right, most statements about mods are wrong. It's as simple as that, so dont get angry.
