The nice thing about CarPC's if that you can configure it as you want, depending on what you want. You could literally bgo buy a used Pentium 3 computer (of of the Dell slim Optiplex PC's) for cheap, buy an LCD monitor and an A/C inverter and there you go. (This is similar how I started out and built on). Than you can build on to it from there. Add functionality as you see fit and even upgrade to a small form-factor pc later on, or build your own.
