Tokico stock on MX3??

Post by lakersfan1 »

OK. I've heard for the longest time on here that KYB were the OEM strut for the MX3. I did my rear struts earlier this week. Pulled off black struts with 'KYB' on them and a Mazda part number. Check. But then yesterday, I do my fronts and I look and they say 'Tokico' and have a Mazda part number. WTF?? Is this standard? Was there a sport suspension option?

Also, if this is what they gave us from the factory, maybe it's best to put sport valved struts in the front, and softer struts in the rear?

  :?: :?: And all this time I thought it was KYB's that were the factory norm. Perhaps depending on certain production runs or segregation between RS vs GS that there may have been variations with struts - Tokikos vs KYB's. Figure??

I wonder if anyone has ever priced OEM front struts from a dealership then? Or are they probably so expensive you might as well get Mazdaspeeds?

Just like the stock wheels are made by Enkei... so if you have stock alloys- you have Enkei wheels!

Wow, that's something else to know! Our rides came with a good brand strut and rim. Seems to me that Mazda took alot more pride and effort into the MX-3 than I had previously thought.

!GOOD INFO!

dont they have the highest spring rate too? i mean compared to other cars that are compatible? like protege/323 and EGT/LTS?

because if thats true im gonna use mx-3 spring/strut combo on my protege GT instead of the EGT suspension i was gonna get.
