problems with my new mx3 please help

Post by nicksmx3 »

so i just bought it for 1500. its blue sohc 93 4 cyl. new clutch, new brakes, new tires, bodys in good condition. the problems im having is my cigarrette lighter thing is broken before i would touch it and it would blow a fuse. i cut the plug and wired in a new one but the new one hangs out and its annoying. also the rear defrost metal tablets wont work they are disconnected from the grid on the window i tucked them in the plastic thing on the hatch so it would touch the gris it worked for a little while then stopped. i supposedly have a valve cover gasket leak dont know how expensive thats gunna be to fix. and the e-brake....i pulled it back one day and i heard a pop my friend said it sounded like some sort of spring now it doesnt work at all theres no play in the handle so im guessing the front cable is just disconnected. i was wondering how expensive that was to fix (american dollars.) if someone could please take pictures of the e brake under the car so i know where to look and how it should look that would be great thanks.

You'll probably find most of your answers in the online shop manual.

well most of your problems are pretty minor. The e-brake sounds like a broken cable or something else. The valve cover leak is pretty much standard issue on a japaneese engine of that age. Its not a huge deal, just keep an eye on your oil level.

Valve cover is about 50.00 for the gasket and new bolt gaskets. (Maybe less if you get it from a AutoZone or Advance etc. instead of Mazda)

Pull the center consol and see what popped on the E-Brake. If everything there is fine you'll need to trace the cable under the car to the rear breaks and find out what cam loose or broke. (as suggested the online shop manual will show the route of the cable so that you can find it)

The only way to really fix the defrost is to get a window shop to re-attach the metal to the window. I'm not sure how they do it or how much it costs.
