Belt Help please
Belt Help please
I got my mx3 back in april and every since then its had belt squealing from time to time. I change the alternater and the alternater belts. I have read some other post on here and they say thier belts break but mine doest. It seems to only squeal when....its COLD or when its WET. If im driving and push in the clutch it will go away and sometimes it goes away and sometimes it just comes back until i do it enough times. Does anyone else have this problem? I bought the alternator belt straight from the mazda dealer. Also i have tightened the alternater belt as far as it goes. PLease help my mechanic doenst even know what to do.

belt
keep the belt dry and try using a little bit of belt dressing...typically i use wd 40 or sea foam on mine...usually stops the squeeling.

I put a new alt on a while ago, and after about 1-2 weeks it started squealing, this is normal, your supposed to tighten it a little more after that happes. Then its good. New belts after they break in strech a little bit, after the strech once you retighten you should never have to again.
But...
But...
PS. Thanks fot the new alt jimiif you are to the end of the adjustment you need a shorter belt

Mine was making me crazy too, but I used a GoodYear GaterBack belt, tighten it to spec, ran car for an hour to go to the mall, then retighten to spec... Its amazing no more slip, I got the Gator Back Idea cause many guys use them to cure supercharger belt slip since Im an installer of various forced indution systems
