Launching a ATX. Already researched, still got a question
Are you guys sure that holding your foot on the left brake wont mess anything up in the braking system?
Whenever I do this, I feel the left brake go down a little as I am reving the RPMs.
Also, how many RPMs do you guys recommend a K8 be launched at?

17.5? Or do you mean 14.5 or 15.5?fieromx3 wrote:well when i race my atx i hold the brake and floor it and have my hold button on and drop it in L and shift through the gears at 7 or 7500 rpms and thats gotten me a 17.5 at 80mph
Thats a really awful time for a KLDE or K8. Unless you own a 4cyl?
Btw, you use the HOLD light and shift from L to 2 and then D? Thats very bad for your tranny, why not leave it at 2 or D? From what I hear from other people, they just leave it on Drive. Some shift from Drive to 2.
Also, dosent putting the HOLD light on make your car slower?

i got a k8 atx and thats actuallt a good time for that and probly isnt good for the tranny but what can u do i shift like that EVERYDAY just not redline and its good as new and the hold light on in S makes the car very VERY slow! ive tried it in just plain d aswell and my time was .5 seconds slower consistently then shifting

I have heard of stock MX3s runnign 16.5s-16.8
Maybe your not getting enough tracking? Got a stereo system? Or maybe that 2.5 Exhaust is TOO MUCH for the 1.8L K8.

I tried holding the brake with my foot while having the other foot on the gas, it seems to me like the car didnt want to go past 2,000 RPMs because of that.
Any other suggestions?

Take good care of you car (not beating it), sell it for a higher amount cuz you kept it in good shape, and buy a quick car.
I'm not trying to race my car, I just feel like having a little fun with it
Buy a quick car? Nah, I'd rather have a KLZE and a MTX in my MX3 running low 14s then to have any other car. All those Mustangs and GSX Eclipses wont know what type of N/A V6 just hit them.

i think the only way you can change you take off with an ATX is to get a chip to change the stall. so your car doesn't take off until higher rpms. most ATX muscle cars have it, but i don't know where to get one for a mx-3 or basically anything about it.
