Shifter losened up.
Shifter losened up.
My shifter has loosened up slightly I wonder what could it mean and why?<BR>If anyone noticed something similar please reply.

do you meen that it wiggles a bit when in gear?<BR>repace shifter bushings

Yep that what it does. Is it hard to do and I probably have to by that part from mazda.<BR>can I keep it like that for now.

my mx3 is like that too. even when its in nutruel, its hella loose. unlike other sticks i've used. it can almost make a circle w/o goin into gear. and when in gear, it can still move around.<BR>u guys know anything bout this? cause/solution?

its just the shifter bushings.....heres what you do.....go to mazda and pick a up a couple of bushings.....jack up your car and unbolt the shifter linkage at the bottom of the shifter.....then pull out the bolt and move the linkage away....in the bottom of the shifter there will be the old bushings pull them out and replace them with the new ones......put it back to gether......try driving if it is still a little losse go back to mazda and buy another set of bushings.......goto the other end of the linkage that is atatched to the shifter and replace those bushings.....the bushings are about 2-3 canadian.......probably a good time to put in a short shifter at the same time!!!!!
