Distributor - sparkplug firing order

Post by ariesdude »

I have a 4cyl 1.6L DOHC (94) - For the distributor -
The firing order as per the manual(B6 DOHC) is like this

But the actual connections in my car are like this

It seems like it has been rotated 90 deg to the right - My car has been running fine so far - so i dont know which one i should follow - Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks.

I just looked up the firing order in Chilton 323/MX-3/626/MX-6/Millenia/Protege 1990-98 Repair Manual (46802) - on page 2-7 (Engine Electrical) the firing order is given like this

Image

This is different from the online manual - does anyone know which one is right? Thanks.

I seem to recall something written in the past about the Mazda Factory Shop Manual/Online Manual being in error on this for the 1.6L DOHC, which would explain it. Maybe someone else on the board has a better recollection? I can check my '95 DOHC this afternoon and letcha know what I find, if no one else has confirmed the error by then.

Thanx a lot Joey and neutral -

could a moderator please make an errata post about this on the faq section or maybe correct the online manual..... just to prevent someone from blowing up their engine by blindly following the manual. Thanks.

When you count the cylinders 1-4 is it from right - left or left - right?

I counted the one on passenger side as no 1 and the driver side as no 4 (passenger side and driver side as in american cars)
