EGR HACK?
EGR HACK?
I just swapped in a JDm k8 engine with no egr. is there any way to fool the engine into thinking that everything is there? Could I just hook up all of the wires to the solenoids and EGR valve but not have them functioning? Is there a way to just hack the wiring so I don`t have to have any of those things in there? HELP please. my check engine light is blinding me.

i have my EGR from my US one and its not hooked up, just bolted to the block and plugged ina dn a vacuum line to it and i get no check engine lights.
The only way u can fool a US ECU is by giving ur EGR a vacuum and having the electrical connector plugged in. You don't have to connect it to your headers.
Hope this helps.

So if my codes are showing a problem with the EGR and with a new EGR being around $500 from Mazda can I just remove it from the engine altogether? What would happen if I just take it right off or if I leave it on but not fully connect it so that its unoperational?
I found out that my problem with burning oil could be from the EGR not working right and increasing the pressure and letting oil blow past the seals. Does this make sense?

You can...it will not hurt performance, although u will get a "check engine" light. Your gas milage will suffer a lil, but no performance will be loss.So if my codes are showing a problem with the EGR and with a new EGR being around $500 from Mazda can I just remove it from the engine altogether?
Thats not true, i have never heard of that...all the EGR does is recycle the exhaust gases back into your intake manifold.I found out that my problem with burning oil could be from the EGR not working right and increasing the pressure and letting oil blow past the seals. Does this make sense?

I'm not sure about the increase in pressure b/c I'm not 100% on how the EGR works exactly, but I'd have to say (based on limited knowledge) that it wouldn't hurt the pressure. As for removing it be careful, it might mess up your emisions on a American spec car and then you'll have to replace it to pass.
