Front end question

Post by Paul17 »

hey everyone...Im new here, but have a question..I have a 93 mx-3 GS with front end damage...I have everything back in place...and I'm installing the skid plate/motor mount, and I seem to have a difficult time getting it in. It is bolted in the back, rear motor mount is bolted, no problem getting front motor mount in...but i'm about a 1/4 of an inch shy for the front bolts...does anyone have specs on the distances from mounting bolts- front to rear, or numbers on the plate itself. I think that the skid plate my be slightly tweaked, I can almost get it when using a pry-bar...so if anyone has spec numbers, or a trick to get it in, please let me know so i can get my MX-3 running again...be much happier that way :) Thank you in advance for any information you may have.

I doubt Mazda or the Haynes manual will help. I'd bet your frame is bent or the cross member is bent. It should go in pretty easily. Keep the rear bolts very loose while trying to get the front ones in and don't put the nuts on the motor mounts untill you have the cross member in.

Thanks for the advice...I now have the entire front end back on...and it runs...but its rough...I was told that the five wires on the Mass air sensor wiring harness were likely in the wrong order...which would cause this...the five wires are
red
red with a black stripe
Black with a green stripe
Green with a red stripe
and Black with orange rings

when the harness is in the car does anyone know what order they go in...starting from the motor and working out? thats the mass air wiring harness that connects to the air box...I'm getting close to having it running again...once again I greatly appreciate any advice...thanks in advance...
