do it myself, or have a shop do it?
i need to replace my ball joint, and i think my tie rod end.... my question is this--should i just "wing it" myself in order to save $ and learn the skill, or is it really complicated and i should pay a real mechanic to do it... just recently i've replaced 2 struts and both drum and disc brakes by myself w/o any tutoring... i just kind of looked at all the parts and tried it myself, and fortunately it all worked out for me w/o any complications... this has boosted my confidence so now i ready to take on more challenges... i don't know too much about mechanics yet however, so is this out of my league?

I wouldnt say that it is out of your league.. but special tools may be required.. depends on the condition of the parts.. you will likely need a pickle fork to seperate the ball joint.. Its definately not easy work.. but can be done in your garage and if you have done brakes & struts.. this isnt going to be much more complicated.. but its a bit more physical in work.. I would recommend having your car aligned after you finish up though.
