dropzone springs suck
i bought dropzone springs for my 95 mx3...advertised to make a 1.8 inch drop...my front went down, my back might have gotten even higher...so i took out the back ones and compressed them coil to coil for a like a half hour, put them back in, and they still didnt lower the rear of the car...they are for a 91-96 (or somethin) escort...any advice?

Re: dropzone springs suck
i have dropzones and they are pretty crappy just becuase of the severe spring rate, but other than that they lower plenty, from what you described i think you might have put the higher spring rate springs on the back and the lower in the front, which is just the opposite of what you wanna do, on the springs themselves there are stickers that say the spring rate lower#=back end, higher#= front end
sold the mx-3 , bought 04 gtp comp g , from the smallest v6 to one of the biggest 3800 s/c FTW

Re: dropzone springs suck
maybe you put the back springs in upside down. take a pic of the ride height of the front and back so we can help more.

Re: dropzone springs suck
the ones in front are different..they are much wider then the ones in the back just like the stock springs are wider then the stock back ones...i dont think they would fit the back...also, the srpings in the back are the same from one end to the other..the space between coils that is...so i dont think it would make a difference whether they were upsidedown or not

Re: dropzone springs suck
yes it does. last year when i used to have dropzone springs, i put my front ones upside down and it didn't drop it at all. i didn't know this at the time, so i decided to see what would happen if i put them right-side up, and wa-la.. dropped like a dream. the springs sucked tho so i swapped em out.

Re: dropzone springs suck
the dropzone springs are the same diameter throughout the spring. it doesn't get wider as you go down or anything like that.

Re: dropzone springs suck
my dropzones are wider in the front. the back however has the same diameter all the way down. the front are cone shaped. but im not worried about the front. they dropped. the back didnt, and they got the same diameter all the way down, so i dont think it matters which way they are installed. anything else it could be?

Re: dropzone springs suck
compressing the springs, and THEN installing them, will give same results.

Re: dropzone springs suck
i meant taking them off the car, leaving them compressed like coil to coil over night, then putting them back on...will that make a difference?

Re: dropzone springs suck
I've got DropZones (2") in my 96, they sit fine, they just need strut upgrades. The stock struts are too long. I used Escort struts cuz they are shorter and drop the car even more. Do you think the fact that your using Escort springs would have anything to do with it not settling to the desired height?

Re: dropzone springs suck
i was told the springs are the same for the escort and the mx3...but if i use escort struts on my mx3 they will lower it? i thought the struts were the same too?
right now i got about a 3 inch gap in the back...i can fit four fingers in there. i can only fit 2 fingers in the front. how much wll the escort struts lower my car? thanks
