Did a search on it...and read a solution on it....but one of my questions is.......if i just get regular lowering springs will this stop the noise or do i have to do some dremel work on the struts?

GC Coilovers. I have clunking too, it's my Suspension Technique lowering springs hitting eachother. No big deal, im used to it now.

mine used to clunk, but I modified the perch so the collars are super snug, now they don't clunk unless i hit a speedbump at too high a speed.

gro how did you modify yours? I'd like to be able to eliminate some of the clunking from my car... i finally heard my car hit a bump while I was on the outside (friend drove it) and he went over a speedbump a little hard and MY GOD the noise it made was awful.... SOOOO loud... its just sad.

I have the same problem, but I don't think the collar is loose and causing the clunk. GC provided rubber O-Rings to prevent this from happening. I had to force the collars onto my MS struts because they were so tight.

It seems like (in my case at least) that the spring is just bouncing around when it loses contact with the perch and then re-seats, and of course you've got steel hitting aluminum... which causes an awful sound. Luc St. Pierre seems to have solved this problem using Nylatron shims on his perches to give it more cushioning. He told me that if there's enough interest in these, SRD could machine some and sell them.

Would anyone be interested? You can read the write-up here:

I'd like these to be made, so please post if you want some. :D
