Need Help with Idle problem

Post by shane's mx3 »

My 92 MX-3 V6 5spd just started changing idle speeds when the brake is applied. It does not do this at any other time. I hope someone can help.

park your car and start it up, adjust the idler screw on top of the mass air flow sensor, you'll know when your increasing or decreasing by the engine noise, every few turns check the tach in the car to get it right.
good luck.

ITs not on the MAF....its on the throttle body. And you must jump ground #10 before you can adjust it.

HELP CONTINUED; I found that it will only change idle speeds when placed in gear. It is not constant it pulses from 1400-600 RPM. If you take it out of gear it idles just fine at 1000 RPM constant.

my car does the same damn thing... Get a new grounding kit for your car, they are all over the place... These cars have been known to have really bad ground cables.. they are small.
Get some nice 0 gauge wires.
This will also be importaint if you ever get BIG speakers etc etc...

Well, even if this isn't the problem, get new ground wires anyway, it does a whole world of good.

I don't think it's practical to find room to run 0 guage everywhere. I'm going a 4 gauge grounding around my engine bay. 2 guage from battery to alternator, but that was just because I picked up that 2 guage piece cheap scrap from the guy I ordered all my other wire and termnials from.

In referrence to -BABYBLUE MX3's- Confusion. The only way is with the clutch in. So if I am at a light and have the clutch pressed and in first gear it will pulse.

I will try the Ground wire. Thanks
