Does Turboing an engine cancel the need of certain parts

Post by manowar821 »

I was wondering why I've seen cars with turbos that don't have a MAF or VAF.
I've seen cars WITH them as well.

I am wondering, under what circumstance is the MAF/VAF made obsolete?

I hate that stupid thing, and want it gone. ESPECIALLY since I plan on turbocharging my mx3.

does a s-afc 2 do it? Since I plan on getting one anyway as well as the turbo...
Thanks a lot, to whoever answers.

To remove the MAF/VAF you have to get a complete engine management system.

Expect to pay some serious amount of money for these... they are expensive.

well you could get a megasquirt engine managment system for around $300 off ebay or build it yourself for about half that. building it yourself looks challenging though. i am going to be getting one withing the next year after i finish my turbo project.
92' mx-3 gsr, built engine, forged internals, p/p ze heads. t3/t4e .63/.60 turbo, udp, msd ignition, millenia s injectors, millenia im, water cooled intercooler, afpr, fmu. running at 7 psi right now

Thanks, I needed a reply, wether it be good or bad news.
This wasn't all that bad of news though, so cool.

why do u hate ur MAF.........
its just something to deal with

i read how to a maf-map conversion on a 1.6l miata.......

but when they switched engine management systems they reconverted back to the MAF b/c it worked better
