Why does my 94 mx-3 have a 93 dash?

Hi, just bought a "new" 94 v6 mx-3. =)

I saw a section here on mx-3.com where you could see all the different dashes. After looking at the page it seems that I have a 93 dash, but the car is from 94.

What could have happened? I got proof that it was from 94. (Bought in Norway if that matters.


Is it possible (well, i know it's possible), but is it much work to change the dash to the newer dash? I think it looks way cooler than mine.

When I recently purchased an online electronic parts catalogue (EPC) for Mazda vehicles (same one the dealers use) I was surprised to find that North American MX-3 models didn't exist in it's database. Doh! I shoulda figured that out beforehand since I bought it from a guy in the UK.

Anyway, I noticed that the dashboard design and parts for years 1993 and up were the earlier design version. Just figured it was because the newer dashbd. design wasn't offered in Europe? To check your info, I just adjusted my EPC application set-up to "Norway" parts search and cked. dashboard parts and that seems to be the case. Maybe it has to do with whether airbags were included on the car? In 94, driver & passenger airbags became standard in the U.S. and that may have been one reason for the dashboard redesign. IanL seems to know his stuff re European MX-3 parts. Maybe he'll comment here too.

hahaha-- I bought that same EPC-

Seems pretty good-- I mainly wanted it for the Protege Parts & engine diagrams since I have a BP now.

Where can I get this catalogue?
Havent seen many sites selling catalogues for the mx-3.

Installing the 3 CD set was pretty straightforward although the directions I rec'd for installation were a little murky. Since you're in Norway, would be perfect for you to do parts research and the exploded diags. are handy. Just to be clear though, this is dealer parts catalogue database application and not an instructional repair type of thing.

maybe your car was built in the end of 1993 (becoming a 1994 car) and they used a dash from that year... either way u have a RARE AND CUSTOM CAR! lol
