maybe a stupid question about the hold button
maybe a stupid question about the hold button
i'm a new mx-3 owner, and i have recently discovered the joy using the 'hold' button on the auto trans. in order to make it feel more manual-like. It just got me thinking, does anyone know if excessive use of the hold button is any harder on the transmission or causes slipping or anything else of that nature? I don't wanna over use it if other people have found problems with using it too much. people w/ automatics, let me know what u think about using it.

Re: maybe a stupid question about the hold button
I would advise againt using it too much.
Also-- dont go over 45 MPH with it on.
It is meant to keep the car in low gear in low traction situations or helping you go up a hill.

Re: maybe a stupid question about the hold button
depends which gear your in, if its like my parents 626, and if i remember right, hold in "Low" locks it in first gear, hold in "Slow" locks it in second gear, and hold in "Drive" locks it in 3rd gear, except it puts it down to second when starting from a stop. If you rev it too high, it will automatically disengage HOLD

Totally uncalled for, why get personal? He was just pointing out that this part of the forum might not have been the right place for this question, since it says "Apperance" and there is a part in the forum that is called "Automatic transmission". Grow up and appreciate the answers instead.
