Painted Calliper's

Post by Neil »

When i was down at body designs a body shop in town here getting a quote on repainting my hood since its got some nasty stone chips in it. I was curious about painting brake callipers so he said instead of him charging me to do it, it would be cheaper to go to Canadian tire get some tremclad and brake cleaner and do it myself.. so i did.. Now im just looking for everyone else’s thoughts and opinions.

Hello... McFly!

He said that he did it himself. Think about it for a second. This is an MX-3 board.

I ampretty sure they are MX-3 Calipers, or that he is going to use them on his MX-3.

Also,-- you really should have painted them white first, then painted them blue. Blue on black doesnt really look too good-- or not as good as you were expecting, anyway.

man..that can be easily done,I did mine in purple by buying some high heat engine enamel from your local Wally World or automotive store. I simply took off the wheels ,cleaned the brake calipers and drums with degreaser ,taped them off and appplied 2 or 3 coats .

Primer and paint usually doesn't last very well. You want to use a high temp paint. And most of the high temp paints I have seen say dont use a primer. The best way to do this is to have them powder coated. A bit more expensive but not unreasonable for a color coating that should last better than paint.
