These damn indiglo gauges!

Post by Sonicxtacy02 »

Ok i got my speedhut kit and in the process of putting them on the fuel gauge popped out. As far as i can tell the shaft is still in tact... but when i try to but the needle back in it just pops back out or doesnt move freely. Do i need a new cluster? The gauges with the EL panel are way too thick and rub against the needles at certain points on the sweep. Temp gauge is fine. Thanks in advance for any tips.

like nelson from simpsons says: HAAAAA HAAAAAA!!!
I installed my gauges which i got from ebay, cost me 38 US$ which included shipping, and they look sick,,,
And to be honest the temp and furl gauges were a pain but i got it in,,,
New Gauges were soo flexible, but when i installed the speedometer, i had friction between the face and needle, so i cut the old one out without taking the old needle out,,,, that was one kung fu technique i used there!!

cut the old what? The friction i have seems to be on the little part that overlaps the base of the needle.. I tried sanding it but i obviously didnt do it enough.

I also have the Ebay indiglo's. My RPM needle stuck around 3500RPM and would release after I got around 5000. What it was, is the gauge was actually bent a little so I removed the screws and made sure it was flat and secured them again.

I have that same problem. I broke the fuel and temp gauge. I got another gauge and found out the rpm and mph gauge doesn't work. What you can do is carefully slide the Indiglo gauge over the black gauge panels. You can do this, but what happened to me is that the blue light wasn't bright. So I cut the black gauge panels off the temp, fuel, mph, and rpm gauge, and it worked. Be very careful sliding it around the needles especially the fuel and temp. Good luck.

Also you could right click and try to save it first then view it.

ok i FINALLY got the damn gauges in. I'm in the process of doin a write-up on the installation but i found an easy trick on the fuel/temp gauge. Basically you can twist the temp gauge at the base so that the needle runs parallel to the fuel gauge, then just go over both needles at the same time with the gauges. The other two are straight forward. Anyways, just wanted to thank everyone for your help.

looks good and matches with the pillar gauges. i wish i could put on my speedhuts, but my cluster is broken so i sold the gauges to 2fazed. im just going to put in a universal dash pod to hold a fuel gauge, digital speedometer and my a/f gauge and im going to cover the OE gauge cluster except for odometer.
