KLZE exhaust

Post by jordan69 »

so i got 2.5" piping all the way back and put on those SS autochrome headers(the hotshot knockoffs), and i have a new resonator put in, the cat was taken out and it all goes back to a magnaflow muffler, but its REALLY loud now, so what would be good to use for a really quiet muffler?

I am runnin a KFZE, with high flow cat to 2.5 piping all the way back to a magnaflow SS muffler.. Sounds tough/mean as hell.. Well some say its loud but I think its about right.. Maybe put high flow cat and lose the resonator? Not sure if no cat would be louder, then cat and no resonator.. Anyone? Good luck man. A.J.

What motor do you have?
2.5" is a bit too big for even a klze.

You should of gone with 2.25" piping from the cat back or at least the resonator back.

agreed you should go bigger than 2.25..anyways you're hot shot knock off headers are 2.25 at the end..there's no point into going to 2.5..anyways it's done...

If you want to reduce the sound try installing a hi-flow cat...that should settle it down a bit

no, the hot shot knockoffs open up to 2.5" at the end, so thats why i ran it all the way through like that plus i am gonna turbo it in the future so i'll need the bigger piping neways

Your setup sounds identical to mine, but I have a 2.5" free-flow cat, then a 2.5" resonator (striaght thru kind) and a 2.5" titanium muffler.

THe hotshot headers open up to what looks like 2.5", maybe even bigger on the main pipe..its pretty damn big from what I saw. I never measured it though.

My setup isn't super loud, but my muffler has a silencer that COMPLETELY quiets it up to how it sounded when i had the factory exhaust on. I put the silencer in only on long trips, but take it out otherwise b/c it sounds AWESOME :2thumbsup:

I have the real HotShots out in my shed. Curious... I'll go measure them and try to post tomorrow.

No... haven't measured them yet, but was wondering: is 2.5 too much? I mean, will that still be enough backpressure? Or are you saying 2.25 because 2.5 is too loud etc? I really want to start a turbo project in the future (like a couple years in the future) after I do some appearance stuff. I plan on running 2.5 w/ high-flo cat, biggest straight-through resonator that'll fit, and split duals in the back (just cause it'll look badout with my kit).

I currently have 2.5" with stock cat and no resonator and a magnaflow muffler. I like its sound. I have teh SS Autochrome headers going in (hopefully) this week

Personally, i heard as a rule of thumb, 1" per Litre, so i went with the 2.5". But i remember a few people switcing back to 2.25" cause they missed the low end torque, but personally, considering i can chirp the tires at 1500rpms, i think i have plenty low end torque

I have ss autochrome headers, and 2.25" exhaust all the way back with a glass pack in. And no cat. With a ebay muffler. I'm thinking of switching to a Flowmaster 60 series, someone told me that sounds bad *** . Any one have pictures of an mx-3 with a flowmaster? And how does it sound?
